Before any massage treatment takes place, every dog receives an initial assessment. This helps me understand your dog’s individual needs and ensures the treatment is safe and suitable.
We start with a detailed consultation, discussing your dog’s medical history, lifestyle, daily routine, and any concerns you may have noticed — such as changes in movement, behaviour, or performance. This helps build a complete picture of your dog’s overall health and wellbeing.
This is followed by a visual and hands-on assessment. Your dog will be observed both at rest and in movement, allowing us to identify any areas of stiffness, imbalance, or compensation. Posture, gait, and general body condition are all carefully evaluated.
A gentle palpation assessment is then carried out, using touch to assess muscle tone, areas of tension, sensitivity, or discomfort. Along with testing your dogs range of motion. This stage is always done calmly and at your dog’s pace, ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable throughout.
The findings from this assessment guide the treatment, ensuring that each session is targeted, appropriate, and adapted specifically to your dog’s needs. It also allows us to monitor progress over time and adjust treatments as your dog responds.
Where necessary, veterinary consent will be requested to ensure the highest standard of care and safety for your dog.
The Initial Assessment is only required once, following session will be treatment only.
